12 Long Hairstyles for Men with Beards
If you want an updated look, grow a beard. My relationship with facial hair dates back to the ’70s. As soon as I could shave, I grew a mustache and wore for several years. Once I joined the corporate world, I went clean shaven. Upon leaving and going through my first divorce, I grew a goatee which I sported for 10 years. About five years ago while going through my second divorce, I needed a new look for a boost of self esteem. While I still had the goatee, I began to grow the sides out. I have always maintained my beard and have never grown it out; it’s just not me. Which brings me to this, if you are going to grow a beard, you need to make sure it suits your personality, your personal style and you need to own it. Besides that, make sure you choose the right beard for your face and get a haircut which compliments your beard rather than distracts from it. The wrong beard on the wrong face will make your look appear forced and contrived. Here’s 12 hairstyles that work with beards at any length.
1. Long and Slicked Back With a Beard
Longer hair is great with a beard at any length. Socially acceptable these days, you won’t feel out of place around the water cooler.
2. Disconnected Fade With a Beard
While fades are modern and probably the next big thing in men’s hair, when worn with a full beard you’ll look bad ass and nobody will want to mess with you.
3. Long Comb Over With a Side Part
The reason why this ‘do is so popular is because it’s easy to maintain. Simply grow your hair to a respectable length, get the sides tapered and comb it over. Use a dab of volumizer and a blow dryer and you’ll be good to go.
4. Extra Long With Side Part With a Beard
Make a statement with a full beard and extremely long side part. Again, this style is no fuss. All you need is paste and a comb and you’ll be golden.
5. Faded Pompadour With a Beard
Use a little wax on your mustache and get your haircut in a faded pompadour for a retro look from the 1800. Tweed suits go especially nice with this look.
6. Dyed Fade Pompadour With a Beard
If you’re feeling adventurous, dye both your hair and your beard. People will never forget you, guaranteed!
7. Defined Fade Straight Hair With a Beard
For men with straight hair, do a defined fade. It’s a snap to style. Just add some mousse and blow it dry to one side and bam, you’re an instant sex symbol.
8. Shaggy With a Beard
The shag has been around for decades, but this one doesn’t have even a pinch of David Cassidy in it. It’s uneven shape suits a full beard to a tee.
9. Fade With Straight Hair With a Beard.
Another tapered fade, but done with straight hair. Very easy to style. Just wash, dry and comb back. A little hairspray wouldn’t hurt just to keep it out of your eyes.
10. Extra Long Side Parted With a Bearde
If you want to scare the children, this cut will accomplish just that. Reminds me of Rob Zombie. This cut suits a full beard because of its wild esthetic and its non conformity.
11. Samara Bun With a Beard
The Samara bun is a look that was once reserved for gypsies and hipsters. Nowadays this bun can be pulled of by anyone.
12. Shoulder Length With a Beard
Here’s a cut we haven’t seen since the psychedelic ’60s. Can you say Jim Morrison 1969?
